Abstract
This study is a stylistic analysis of Gorman’s The Hill We Climb. It is based on the hunch that there are distinctive features employed by the poet in writing of her text. The data for this study was downloaded from the internet via www.http://contentmanager.med.uvm.edu. It is presented as excerpts for ease of analysis. Leech and Short (2007) model of analysis was adopted for the study. Only lexico-semantic and figurative levels were utilized in this study. The lexico-semantic featured special usage of words and meanings while figurative level leveraged on parallelism, anaphoric reference, and traditional figures of speech and sound. The result shows an exceptional uniqueness in the used of both the lexico-semantic and figurative levels in the poetry of Amanda Gorman’s The Hill We Climb. The paper opines that text is simply narrating the past and foreshadowing the future for her nation.
